Here comes the weekend! Are you ready? We are!

Here are a few of our favorite ideas for fun in Palm Beach County:

I’m going to drive north and stand in line for an hour on Saturday — for fun! No, I’m not headed to Disney, rather to Due South Brewing’s tasting room where they will be releasing a special beer on this day only.

They age their gold-medal winning beer, Mariana Trench — brewed with cocoa and vanilla —in Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels for nearly a year and release it every fall. The result is a rich, thick, almost cognac-like beer that resembles a spirit.

They will package only 1,300, 22-ounce bottles, so although the beer doesn’t go on sale until noon, the line will be out the door hours before the doors open. At $19.99 a bottle, it isn’t cheap, but then, that’s less expensive than ticket to Disney and the experience as memorable as a ride on Space Mountain.

Although I’m not in the market for a new pet (my cat Daphne would never speak to me again), I might have to pop by Countdown 2 Zero on Saturday.

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, more than 30 local rescue groups will band together to find homes for cats and kittens, dogs and puppies, rabbits and guinea pigs.

Last year, more than 4,000 people attended the free event, and 313 pets met there furever families.

Countdown 2 Zero is presented by the Lois Pope LIFE Foundation, and hosted by Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League and Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control.

Leslie Streeter, pop culture columnist: A summer concert at the fairgrounds

5 Seconds of Summer is not only the perfect name for a band full of cute, youthful dudes, but for their sound – it’s breezy, ecstatic and makes you think of long days in the sun. Get a late-in-the-year soak in that sunniness at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Perfect Vodka Amphitheatre.

Bom dia! That sensuous, seductive Brazilian beat sambas into downtown Boca Raton on Saturday in honor of Brazilian Independence Day.

From 6 to 11 p.m., the food, music and dancing of Brazil will spice up Sanborn Square during Brazilian Beat 2015. Scheduled bands include Washington, D.C.,-based Alma Tropicalia, which blends 60’s psychedelia with mellow samba sounds, and Batuke Sambe Funk, a high-energy Brazilian band that melds funk, Afro samba, Brazilian big band, batucada and soul.

The event is free and open to the public.
